Another successful race weekend is in the history books for the Ottawa-Gatineau Karting Championship! Race #2 of the series was held at Le Circuit Quyon in Quyon, Quebec with 36 competitors battling on track for racing supremacy! Saturday’s test and tune day was also well attended, with just under 20 racers showing up to hone their race set-ups in preparation for the big day. The Ottawa-Gatineau Karting Championship is a series with racers from both the Le Circuit Quyon Karting Club (LCQKC) and the National Capital Kart Club (NCKC) vying for the overall championship. The new series pits drivers from both clubs against each other on track, resulting in inter-club rivalries and extremely tight racing!
Race day started off somewhat overcast and cool, with the temperature around 10C in the early morning, but the clouds soon dissipated and temperatures rose to over 20C by the afternoon feature races. To add variation to the event, the races were held in a counter-clockwise direction which provided for a completely different racing experience – with a challenging reducing-radius corner after the long back straight! The racing was fast and furious, with a few off-track excursions occurring throughout the many race heats; however, the day ended safe and sound with no injuries and only a few minor incidents! The official classes raced were: Novice, Briggs Junior, Briggs Senior, Honda Senior, and Briggs Masters. The final podium results were as follows:
- Novice: 1st – Owen Giardino; 2nd – Emily Conty (R); 3rd – Carter Jones
- Briggs Junior: 1st – Dawson Giardino; 2nd – Sebastien Piché; 3rd – Alexandre Piché
- Briggs Senior: 1st – Charlotte Lalonde; 2nd – Michael D. Forget; 3rd – Miles Smith
- Honda Senior: 1st – Sylvain Coulombe; 2nd – Carter Fisher; 3rd – Scott Armstrong (R)
- Briggs Masters: 1st – Mike Forget; 2nd – Jacques LaRose; 3rd – Eric Giberson

We look forward to seeing you back at Le Circuit Quyon on June 29th and 30th for Races #3 & #4 (Canada Day Doubleheader) of the Ottawa-Gatineau Karting Championship!
