Race Report – Race #5 of the Ottawa-Gatineau Karting Championship – Interclub Event

Le Circuit Quyon (LCQ) is pleased to report that Race #5 of the Ottawa-Gatineau Karting Championship (OGKC) was a tremendous success! The on-track action was incredibly intense thanks to almost 50 racers from SH Karting (Saint-Hilaire), PSL Karting Montréal, the National Capital Kart Club (NCKC), and the LCQKC vying for the top step of the podium last weekend (July 28th). The forecast for the event was 80% probability of precipitation, but the majority of the racing was held in dry conditions. Early in the morning during the practice and qualifying sessions, the track was still wet from the overnight periods of rain; however, the track continued to dry throughout the day and made it challenging for the drivers to decide on which tires to use for their sessions. Intermittent rain showers throughout race day also led to last minute tire changes – rains to slicks, then back to rains, then back to slicks! Several of the class finals had racers sharing the track on both rains and slicks – some hoping for a downpour, some hoping for more sun! The changeable conditions made for excitement both on the track and in the paddock! All of the classes were hotly contested, and racers from LCQKC and NCKC were trying their hardest to represent their home track! The final results of the six classes were as follows:

Novice: 1st – Pactrick Woods-Worth; 2nd – Xavier Dorsnie; 3rd – Carter Jones
Junior: 1st – Sebastien Piché; 2nd – Alexandre Piché; 3rd – Nicholas Miller-Armstrong
Briggs Senior: 1st – William Lalonde; 2nd – Pierre Gilbert; 3rd – Simon Belanger
Honda Heavy: 1st – Sylvain Coulombe; 2nd – Lee Williscroft; 3rd – Scott Armstrong
Briggs Masters: 1st – Jacques Larose; 2nd – Darren Mailette; 3rd – Eric Giberson
Rotax: 1st – Allan Moreau; 2nd – Michael D. Forget; 3rd – Louis-Jean Boucher

A special thanks to Luc Lussier of SH Karting (Saint-Hilaire) and LP Gelinas of PSL Karting Montréal for bringing their line-up of racers all the way to the Pontiac Region of Western Québec for Le Circuit Quyon’s first interclub race weekend! LCQ would also like to thank the NCKC, St. John’s Ambulance, Race Director Kelly-Mark Michaud, and the many volunteers for making this weekend a success! Thanks to everyone for participating, and remember that LCQ will be hosting the final race of the OGKC (Race #6) on the September 7th and 8th weekend!
