What a fantastic final weekend of the 2013 club-racing season at Le Circuit Quyon (LCQ)! LCQ’s 2013 Invitational Kart Enduro was a massive success, with great racing in the Novice, Junior, and Senior Classes. Racers from the LCQ Kart Club, the National Capital Kart Club (NCKC), as well as many rookies took to the track vying for the enduro championship. The very well-attended practice for the enduro was held on Saturday, October 5th. It was a perfect autumn day – sunny and warm. This resulted in a high number of karts on track and by mid-afternoon, practice sessions were divided by class to facilitate the lapping.
On race day, the heavens opened and a steady rain fell for the majority of the enduro. The first to race was the Novice & Moms/Ladies Class, and their race lasted for 30 minutes. The second was the Junior Class, with a race time of 60 minutes. The third and final class was the Senior Briggs category, racing a 125km / 125 minute race (the Quyon ‘125’) – whichever came first. Due to the significant rainfall, the event was extremely entertaining for the spectators, but very difficult, complex, and tiring for the competitors. All three classes saw many off-track excursions, mid-corner spins, a few breakdowns, but thankfully only a few accidents. The winners in each category were:
Novice: Ryan Armstrong
Junior: Anthony Conty
Senior: Jeremie Filion, William Lalonde, Paul Lalonde
The end-of-year enduro is designed as an opportunity to introduce racing newbies to motorsport through karting, and it proved to be a great mix of seasoned veterans and enthusiastic rookie racers challenging for the top step of the podium! The senior class was the largest field of the day, composed of 18 teams. The size of the senior field, mixed with the inclement weather, made for an interesting starting grid and a few challenging first laps until the race order was established. All in all, a fantastic weekend was had by all and hopefully some of the rookie drivers were bitten by the racing bug!
LCQ would like to congratulate the 2013 enduro winners, and also give big thanks to Race Director Ron Henrie, all of the volunteers, spectators, racers, and crew members for contributing to another amazing race day in really adverse weather conditions! LCQ is proud to be your circuit of choice in the National Capital Area, and is eagerly anticipating the 2014 race season!
