(Quyon, QC) Another fantastic weekend of kart racing at Le Circuit Quyon! The weather could not have been better – hot and sunny on both race days! Thanks to everyone that participated in the OGKC double header; twenty-five racers made it to the track for Saturday’s race, and twenty-eight made it out on Sunday. The more competitors, the better the racing! A big thank you must go out to all of the friends and family of the racers that made the trip to Quyon this weekend to watch the fierce competition – your support and contribution to the success of the OGKC series is greatly appreciated!
Race #3 of the OGKC was held on Saturday, June 21st. The configuration for the race was the full-track counter-clockwise circuit, with a minor deviation taking the reducing radius ‘fish-hook’ curve at the end of the new track section and incorporating the ‘W’ curves of the old track leading back to the front straightaway. This particular track configuration makes for some great racing, some tense moments navigating the fish-hook, and some tricky high-speed corners! There were four classes raced: Novice, Junior, Senior, and Masters (all Briggs & Stratton). The competition format for the OGKC is a practice, followed by heat #1, heat #2, and a final race for the major points. The results for the final races of each class were as follows:
Novice picture coming soon!
Novice: 1st – Ashton Lake; 2nd – Jake McNeeley; 3rd – Kaleb Smith
Junior: 1st – Jamie White; 2nd – Vincent Lamothe; 3rd – Owen Clarke
Briggs Senior: 1st – Charlotte Lalonde; 2nd – William Lalonde; 3rd – Miles Smith
Briggs Masters: 1st – James Dunn; 2nd – Phil Hall; 3rd – Crawford Kilpatrick
Race #4 of the OGKC was held on Sunday, June 22nd, with 28 racers participating. The track was reconfigured for Sunday’s sessions to incorporate the full track, raced in a clockwise direction. The racing was extremely close and competitive, with a couple of off-track excursions and some minor bang-ups occurring throughout the many race heats; however, the day ended safe and sound with no injuries and only a few mishaps! The official classes raced were again: Novice, Junior, Senior, and Masters (all Briggs & Stratton). The results for the final races of each class were as follows:
Novice: 1st – Ashton Lake; 2nd – Kaleb Smith; 3rd – Jake McNeeley
Junior: 1st – Anthony Conty; 2nd – Jamie White; 3rd – Vincent Lamothe
Briggs Senior: 1st – William Lalonde; 2nd – Charlotte Lalonde; 3rd – Miles Smith
Briggs Masters: 1st – James Dunn; 2nd – Mike Forget; 3rd – Phil Hall
Congratulations to all of the racers that made the podium, and a big thank you to everyone that participated in making our double-header weekend a great success.
Special thanks to Race Director Jason Bolton and the track marshals and volunteers for working throughout the weekend to keep the racers safe and sound during the double-header.
Karting continues to grow in popularity in Canada’s Capital Region, and this weekend was a very positive sign of a bright future. See you at the next big OGKC race day – Sunday, July 6th at Circuit ICAR in Mirabel, QC for the interclub race with PSL Montréal Karting Club. We hope to see you there! It will DEFINITELY be a great race! More details on the event will be posted as it becomes available.
